End of Illustration

the finished 'Set Phrases To Stun' bundles, containing a poster a bag and a tshirt. i made the logo in different colours and used proper re-sealable A4 size plastic packaging. i'm really happy with the result. unlike previous projects i did alot of experimentation and made lots of prototypes with the tshirts and bags and think the bundles are a good representation of the work i did.

End of Graphics

this is the finished dress, shot on a background of the same font pattern design i used on the skirt. i'm really happy with the result. it fulfills my brief and i have enjoyed experimenting with the patterns.

graphics round up

this is the dress im making for graphics, ive done more than this but the photos are refusing to upload. the body is raunched and asymmetric, but ive added a strap the other side to hold the lines which go over the shoulder.
the skirt in the pictures is just pinned at the moment, the pattern is from a stencil i made. the material will be raunched like the top. I then have to form the basque around the skirt with the black foam shapes i made earlier. i hope to complete it this weekend and spend next week finishing off work and photographing it.

illustration round up... nearly the end!

this is the design i made for my illustration business card. i wanted it to be black and white line, and include things that inspire me, including music, pattern, shapes and people. im quite pleased with it.

here are the screen prints i made the other week, im really happy with how they came out, exactly how i wanted them. i painted a thick colour down the paper before printing with black, i wanted them to look rougher than my hand-drawn illustrations and think i achieved that.

above them are the tshirts and bags im printing, some arent coming out as well as others but they all show how im experimenting with different compositions and colours, and different materials for printing.

not long to go now!

Illustration- easter update

(the skin of your teeth image is in reverse as thats how i had to print onto the transfer!) have finalised the images im using, and have made prototypes for each design. chosing which colours and compositions will work. ive been adding colour on the computer, or with watercolour on a couple of the prototypes. i also bought some tshirt crayons off ebay which didnt work too well. but i may use them on a different design as i think it was the way in which i used the colour which didnt work.

graphics- easter update

So i've made my fabric-covered foam font shapes which will be around the skirt, im really happy with them. as i've not yet been in the print room i decided to make my own textile pattern using the reverse side of the font shapes on white cotton and spray paint them. i like the outcome, am going to use a stanley knife to carve smaller font shapes out of the same foam to use as a stencil.

Dress design ideas

These are the 3 designs i like the most, each incorporating elements of the font in different ways. my favourite is the top design (or in the middle in the image above) but rather than the area between the skirt and lettering be hollow, i may use the hidden scaffolding idea from the sketch on the left. i think this would make the design more sturdy.

Patterns for Graphics FMP.

Here i'm looking at patterns i can make using strips of printed Modern no. 20 text. I'm still unsure if im going to use printed fabric on the actual skirt, but want to experiment a bit before i decide.

Paper Dress, graphics FMP experiment

before settling on my final design and making it with fabric, im looking at construction methods using paper. i kept to the design i liked the most from the 3 i'd sketched and wanted to make the dress look as good as possible, with few visable staples and sellotape. this proved difficult as the skirt is full of rolled up paper to give it shape. ive left a hole in the skirt to show the paper underneath.
the dress has a proper zip down the back, and includes elements of pleats, tucks, crossed over paper and it is also tailored to fit me exactly.
its not quite finished, but will post more images when its done, and of me wearing it.
